Large Polished Cleoniceras Ammonite with Intricate Suture...

Large Polished Cleoniceras Ammonite with Intricate Suture Patterns – Cretaceous – Madagascar An impressive large Cleoniceras ammonite from the Cretaceous deposits of Madagascar, beautifully polished to reveal an extraordinary network of intricate suture patterns. The specimen displays a striking combination of deep amber, caramel, smoky grey and cream tones. Its surface is covered with exceptionally detailed, fern-like suture lines, creating an elaborate natural pattern reminiscent of delicate lace. Particularly fascinating is the carefully exposed upper section, where the complex three-dimensional structure of the fossil's internal septa becomes visible. The sculptural preparation highlights the remarkable anatomy of this ancient marine cephalopod. Small areas also reveal attractive red iridescent flashes under direct light, adding further visual interest to the richly mineralized surface. The polished finish enhances the contrast between the different colours and the finely preserved sutures, while natural variations and fossilization features remain visible. A substantial and highly decorative specimen, combining exceptional anatomical detail with remarkable natural beauty. An excellent addition to any fossil collection or sophisticated cabinet of curiosities. Weight: 1,749 g Clear acrylic display stand included.
