The ring here, forged by hand, actually seems to consist of three rings at once. Its surface is martellated and appears soft, as if the three rings nestled together. Three radiant gemstones, natural red rubies, are set on the three rings. They are cut into cabochons and weigh about 2.40 ct altogether. The gold is also heavy and forged with high quality workmanship, in addition to a particularly high-carat alloy. The unusual shape of the ring goes back to ancient models. In the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna a ring has been preserved, which should be mentioned here as an example of this ring type of antiquity (Inv. No. VII b 211). The ancient ring in Vienna consists of three interconnected rings setting cabochon cut garnets. It was made in the 2nd or 3rd century AD and found in Slovakia in 1790. The ring offered here is a goldsmith's work from Greece. You can almost feel the heart and soul that went into this unique ring with every hammer blow. The work is reminiscent of early works by Ilias Lalaounis, although we have not been able to identify a goldsmith's mark. Since the ruby is considered the stone of love in the language of gemstones, the ring is ideal as a gift of love. We discovered the ring in Zurich and could not resist its beautiful craftsmanship and luxurious materials. It comes with detailed appraisal from the German Association for Gemstone Evaluation Idar-Oberstein.
