LAURA BURUIANA - Banana Geisha Dog

LAURA BURUIANA - Banana Geisha Dog

Banana Geisha playfully associates the refined elegance of the geisha with the irreverence of Pop Art. On a deep Klein blue background, dominated by a striking red sun, the traditional figure calmly walks a surprising companion: a banana inspired by Andy Warhol, transformed into a dog. Humor, cultural references and graphic simplicity meet in a bold contemporary composition, where Japanese tradition and the Pop Art spirit engage with whimsy. Technique: Acrylic on canvas. LAURA BURUIANA AN ARTISTIC PATH BETWEEN MUSIC AND PAINTING A concert cellist, teacher, and painter of Romanian origin based in France, Laura Buruiana has developed an artistic path at the crossroads of music and the visual arts. PAINTING A Second Artistic Expression Laura Buruiana’s painting explores the links between music, identity, emotion, movement and contemporary visual culture. Fueled by her experience as a musician, her pictorial gesture translates rhythm, vibration and movement: the line evokes the bow stroke, the matter the pressure and vibration, while the composition seeks to create a form of visual rhythm. Since 2025, her work has been distinguished and selected in several international competitions and artistic projects. She notably received the 1st Prize of Terrain and Towers from the Golden Duck Gallery (New York–Vienna–Budapest, 2025), the 2nd Prize of Interconnecting Lines at Artio Gallery in New York (2026), as well as a Certificate of Merit at Premio Brera 26 in Milan (2026). In 2026, she was also selected for The Universal Genius – Tribute to Leonardo da Vinci, presented at the Museo Nazionale della Scienza e della Tecnologia Leonardo da Vinci in Milan, and received a Finalist Award at the 10th Color International Juried Art Competition in TERAVARNA. Her work is also featured by the Circle Foundation for the Arts for its exhibition competition in Zurich, as well as by Arts to Hearts Project and Biafarin / Gallerium for several international selections.
