Life at the lake - Katja Wittmer

Life at the lake by Katja Wittmer Painting 24.0 x 30.0 :: Life at the lake is showing a unique dynamic interplay of shape movement and colour. Different shades of blue represent water while yellow resembles the sun and pastel colours show movement and reflection at the lake. Deeper and darker tones give contrast and draw you into hidden depths. In her recent series ‘Elemental’ Katja Wittmer has been incorporating sand plaster pastels and acrylics into her paintings to convey the connection to the four elements focusing on the different dynamics of each element- water earth air and fire. Her technique incorporates dripping paint thick textures and multi-layered colours. Katja Wittmer uses these materials to create many layers covering and uncovering offering a glimpse into what lingers underneath. Using this technique she creates unique works of abstract expressionism which challenge the boundaries of perception. Playing with form texture and abstraction Katja Wittmer develops the wonderful complexity of colour -in an interplay that extends through several layers she achieves a unique and highly individual compositional power creating her own unmistakable style of abstract modern art.
