The temple placed in the central part represents the translation of ideal order into matter. Each element recalls the concepts of measurement, rectitude, proportion and method, transforming the whole composition into a kind of symbolic workshop board, where architecture, astronomy and knowledge seem to belong to one great plan. Particularly evocative is the dialogue between sky and Temple: above, a cosmos governed by orbits and geometries; below, architecture built according to the same principles. The work thus suggests a correspondence between universal order and the refinement of the individual, between what is contemplated in the heavens and what is built in matter. The warm tone of the tapestry, played with an elegant effect, gives the image an antique, solemn and archival appearance, like a precious board of symbolic architecture or a ritual document preserved through time. The contrast between lighted zones and the deep dark firmament makes the compass, the Temple and the multitude of graphic details particularly scenographic.
