Limited Edition 5/30 Saint Patrick – Guardian of Faith –...

“Saint Patrick – Keeper of Faith” by Asteria is a work of intense spirituality devoted to Saint Patrick, one of the most beloved and symbolic figures of Christian tradition, revered as the evangelizer of Ireland and a spiritual guide capable of uniting faith, wisdom, and inner strength. The saint is depicted at the center of the composition with a solemn and authoritative bearing, wrapped in richly decorated episcopal vestments and topped by the miter, a sign of his dignity and pastoral mission. In his right hand he raises a shamrock, one of the most recognizable elements of his iconography, traditionally associated with preaching the Holy Trinity: three leaves joined in a single stem, a simple and powerful image of the threefold nature of God in one essence. In his other hand he grips the pastoral staff, symbolizing his role as guide and guardian of the Christian people. Saint Patrick’s face, intense and contemplative, conveys wisdom, steadiness, and deep spiritual awareness. A luminous halo unfolds around his head, while the sky behind him, streaked with clouds and rays of light, enhances the sacred and visionary character of the scene. In the background appear a small stone church and a tall tower, evocative references to the Irish land and to the long Christian tradition intimately linked to the Saint. At the saint’s feet lies a serpent, a symbolically powerful detail that recalls the famous tradition according to which Saint Patrick drove snakes from Ireland. Beyond the legendary reading, this element eloquently represents the victory of faith over evil, over darkness and over hostile forces to the light. The contrast between the shamrock raised to the sky and the serpent relegated to the lower part of the composition strengthens the devotional reading of the work, transforming it into an image of protection, perseverance, and triumph of good. Manufactured in a refined grayscale scale with deep sepia reflections, the work is striking for its extraordinary richness of detail and its rendering reminiscent of an ancient devotional engraving. The light and shadow contrast precisely models the face, the drapery, the pastoral staff, and the landscape, granting Saint Patrick a monumental, intense, and timeless presence. The light filtering through the clouds guides the gaze toward the Saint, emphasizing his spiritual centrality and contemplative strength. “Saint Patrick – Keeper of Faith” is not merely a decoration, but a genuine devotional image, a visual presence capable of evoking faith, protection, and spiritual memory. It is an artwork conceived for those who wish to introduce into their spaces a Christian symbol rich in meaning, tied to tradition, to the evangelical mission, and to the luminous strength of faith. At the bottom right is a red wax seal, a distinctive detail that adds personality to the work and creates a refined chromatic contrast with the sober tones of the composition. This element further enriches the piece, giving it a recognizable, intimate, and refined character. - Composition: 55% PU (polyurethane), 20% Polyester, 5% Cotton, 20% Leather Fiber - Materials compliant with REACH regulations, environmentally friendly and free of harmful substances - Work not framed - Packaging and shipping: the work will be shipped rolled on a rigid cardboard support to ensure maximum protection.
