Limited Edition 6/30 Saint Patrick – Guardian of Faith –...

“St. Patrick – Guardian of Faith” by Asteria is an intensely spiritual work dedicated to St. Patrick, one of the most loved and symbolic figures of Christian tradition, venerated as the evangelizer of Ireland and a spiritual guide capable of uniting faith, wisdom, and inner strength. The Saint is depicted at the center of the composition with a solemn and authoritative posture, wrapped in rich episcopal vestments finely decorated and topped by the mitre, a sign of his dignity and pastoral mission. In his right hand he raises a shamrock, one of the most recognizable elements of his iconography, traditionally associated with the preaching of the Holy Trinity: three leaves united on a single stalk, a simple yet powerful image of the threefold nature of God in one essence. In the other hand he grips the pastoral staff, symbol of his role as guide and guardian of the Christian people. The face of St. Patrick, intense and thoughtful, communicates wisdom, firmness, and deep spiritual awareness. Around his head a luminous halo opens, while the sky behind him, threaded with clouds and rays of light, enhances the sacred and visionary character of the scene. In the background appear a small stone church and a tall tower, evocative references to the Irish land and the long Christian tradition that is deeply linked to the Saint. At the Saint’s feet lies a serpent, a detail of strong symbolic value that recalls the famous tradition that St. Patrick drove snakes out of Ireland. Beyond the legendary reading, this element eloquently represents the triumph of faith over evil, over darkness and hostile forces to spiritual light. The contrast between the shamrock raised to the sky and the serpent relegated to the lower part of the composition reinforces the devotional reading of the work, turning it into an image of protection, perseverance, and triumph of good. Realized in a refined grayscale with deep sepia undertones, the work impresses with its extraordinary richness of detail and its rendering reminiscent of an ancient devotional engraving. The light and shadow contrast shapes with great precision the face, the drapery, the pastoral staff, and the landscape, conferring upon St. Patrick a monumental, intense, and timeless presence. The light filtering through the clouds guides the gaze toward the Saint, emphasizing his spiritual centrality and contemplative strength. “St. Patrick – Guardian of Faith” is not merely a decoration, but a true devotional image, a visible presence capable of evoking faith, protection, and spiritual memory. It is a work designed for those who wish to introduce in their spaces a Christian symbol rich in meaning, tied to tradition, to the evangelizing mission, and to the luminous power of faith. In the bottom right there is a red wax seal, an distinctive detail that adds personality to the work and creates a refined chromatic contrast with the sober tones of the composition. This element further embellishes the piece, giving it a recognizable, intimate, and sought-after character. - Composition: 55% PU (Polyurethane), 20% Polyester, 5% Cotton, 20% Leather Fiber - Materials compliant with REACH regulations, environmentally friendly and free of harmful substances - Unframed artwork - Packaging and shipping: the piece will be shipped rolled on a rigid cardboard support to ensure maximum protection.
