The Sinking of the Titanic and Great Sea Disasters is a famous historical book published in May 1912, less than a month after the tragic sinking of the famous liner. Written hastily by editor Logan Howard Smith under the pen name Logan Marshall, this work is one of the very first written testimonies recounting the RMS Titanic catastrophe. The account of the Titanic sinking: Despite numerous factual errors due to its rapid publication, the work compiles valuable direct survivor testimonies, transcripts of radio messages, and early reports from official inquiries. It depicts both the passengers' heroism and the horror of the night of April 14–15, 1912. The history of great maritime disasters: To put the drama in context, Marshall includes a record of previous major sea disasters, while analyzing the evolution of shipbuilding technologies and the glaring inadequacy of rescue devices of the time (notably the lack of lifeboats). Today, the work is regarded as a fascinating secondary historical resource.
