Longines Saint-Imier L2.752.4 – 40 mm – automatic column-wheel chronograph – caliber L688.2 – leather strap not original This Longines Saint-Imier L2.752.4 is an elegant automatic chronograph from the Saint-Imier Collection. The watch combines a polished stainless steel case with a light silvery-white dial, black Arabic numerals, blued hands and three sub-dials. Inside lies the automatic Longines L688.2 caliber with a column-wheel chronograph. The movement is visible through the transparent case back. The current black leather strap is not original; the Longines-signed deployant clasp is present. ────────────────── Basic information Brand: Longines Collection: Saint-Imier Collection Reference: L2.752.4 Estimated year of manufacture: circa 2012–2016 Diameter: 40 mm Case material: stainless steel Dial: silvery/white Movement: mechanical automatic Caliber: Longines L688.2 Complications: chronograph and date Crystal: sapphire crystal Back: transparent case back Band: black leather strap, not original Clasp: Longines-signed deployant clasp Wrist size: approx. 20 cm ────────────────── Important details The Saint-Imier L2.752.4 stands out for its classic chronograph design and the automatic L688.2 caliber. Characteristic of this variant are the three sub-dials, large black Arabic numerals, blued hands and the diagonally placed date window between 4 and 5 o’clock. The L688.2 caliber features a column-wheel mechanism for operating the chronograph. Through the transparent case back, the mechanical movement is visible. The current black leather strap has been replaced and is not the original Longines strap. The Longines-signed deployant clasp is however present. ────────────────── Year of manufacture estimate Estimated year of manufacture: circa 2012–2016 This reference belongs to the Saint-Imier chronograph generation from the 2010s and is equipped with the Longines L688.2 caliber. Without a dated warranty card or other documentation, the exact production year cannot be determined. For this example, an estimated production period of circa 2012–2016 is used. ────────────────── Case The round case is made of stainless steel and has predominantly high-gloss polished surfaces. Diameter: 40 mm Material: stainless steel Finish: predominantly polished Chronograph pushers: two rectangular pushers Corrector: recessed corrector on the left side Crown: Longines-signed The case features the characteristic curved lugs of the Saint-Imier Collection. The polished finish gives the watch a classic and well-kept appearance. There are light to normal signs of wear and hairlines present. Around the case sides, lugs and polished bezel there are locally somewhat more noticeable superficial scratches. No significant heavy damage is present. ────────────────── Dial The silvery dial has a classic chronograph layout with three recessed sub-dials. Dial color: silvery/white Hour markers: black Arabic numerals Hour and minute hands: blued, with luminous inset Central seconds hand: blued Sub-dials: three, with fine concentric texture Date: between 4 and 5 o’clock Minute track: detailed scale along the outer rim Inscription: Longines and Automatic Origin mark: Swiss Made The three sub-dials provide a balanced layout to the dial. The sub-dials have a fine concentric finish and subtly contrast with the smooth central area. The dial presents very neatly. The printing, Arabic numerals and hands also look well-kept. ────────────────── Chronograph The watch features a fully mechanical automatic chronograph. The central long seconds hand is used for the chronograph. The three sub-dials record the different chronograph functions and the running seconds. The chronograph is operated with the two rectangular pushers on the right side of the case. An important technical feature of this variant is the column-wheel mechanism of the L688.2 caliber. This construction handles starting, stopping and resetting the chronograph. ────────────────── Movement Caliber: Longines L688.2 Type: mechanical automatic Function: column-wheel chronograph Frequency: 28,800 A/h Power reserve: approx. 54 hours Functions: hours, minutes, small seconds, date and chronograph The automatic movement is visible through the transparent case back. The rotor is branded with Longines and the caliber designation L688.2. The movement has decorative finishing, allowing the mechanism to be appreciated from the back. ────────────────── Timegrapher measurement Measured rate deviation: +5 seconds per day Amplitude: 314° Beat error: 0.3 ms Lift angle: 52° Frequency: 28,800 A/h The measured deviation of +5 seconds per day is a respectable value for a mechanical watch. The measured amplitude of 314° and beat error of 0.3 ms also indicate a well-conditioned movement at the time of measurement. A timegrapher measurement is always a snapshot and does not guarantee future accuracy or the complete technical condition of the movement. ────────────────── Crown and pushers The ridged crown features the Longines logo. Above and below the crown are the two rectangular chronograph pushers. On the opposite side of the case is a recessed corrector. The crown and pushers match the classic lines of the Saint-Imier case well. ────────────────── Case back The case back is transparent, allowing the automatic L688.2 caliber to be visible. Around the viewing window are various Longines and material indications, including Saint-Imier Collection, Swiss Made and All Stainless Steel. The polished outer rim of the case back shows normal superficial wear and hairlines. ────────────────── Leather strap The watch is fitted with a black leather strap with crocodile pattern and black stitching. The leather band has been replaced and is not the original Longines strap. The band shows signs of wear, including slight creasing and wear around the used holes. The band is still wearable, but wear is visible. Wrist size: approx. 20 cm. ────────────────── Clasp The watch is fitted with a Longines-signed deployant clasp. On the clasp the Longines name and the winged hourglass logo are engraved. The clasp shows light to normal superficial scratches and hairlines consistent with regular use. ────────────────── Water resistance The original model specification for this edition is approximately 3 bar / 30 meters. With a used watch, the original water resistance cannot be guaranteed without a recent pressure test. ────────────────── Condition Case: neat used condition with light to normal hairlines and superficial scratches Bezel: light signs of wear Dial: very neat condition Crystal: neat condition Crown: Longines-signed Pushers: neat used condition Back: transparent, with light signs of wear on the steel rim Movement: automatic Longines L688.2 Timekeeping: +5 seconds per day Band: replaced, not original Clasp: Longines-signed deployant clasp with signs of use Wrist size: approx. 20 cm ────────────────── Overall condition A well-presented Longines Saint-Imier L2.752.4 automatic chronograph with a classic silvery dial, black Arabic numerals and characteristic blued hands. The polished steel case shows light to normal signs of wear and hairlines appropriate for a worn example. The dial and crystal present themselves neatly. The automatic Longines L688.2 caliber is equipped with a column-wheel chronograph and is visible through the transparent case back. The timegrapher measurement shows a rate deviation of +5 seconds per day, an amplitude of 314° and a beat error of 0.3 ms. The black leather strap has been replaced and is not original. The Longines-signed deployant clasp is present.
