Longines Saint-Imier Collection L2.784.4 – 43 mm – automatic chronograph – black dial – date – caliber L688 – approx. 2012–2015 The Longines Saint-Imier Collection L2.784.4 is a stylish automatic chronograph that combines the brand’s classic appearance with a sporty complication. This model features a 43 mm stainless steel case, a deep black dial with three sub-dials, date display, and a transparent case back that reveals the automatic chronograph movement. The black dial is characterized by the large applied Arabic “12”, faceted hour markers, luminous central hands, and contrasting white scales. The three sub-dials are neatly arranged across the dial and give the watch its distinctive chronograph look. The watch is fitted with a black Longines leather strap and a signed Longines deployant buckle. ────────────────── Basic information Brand: Longines Collection: Saint-Imier Collection Reference: L2.784.4 Estimated year of manufacture: approx. 2012–2015 Type: automatic chronograph Movement: mechanical automatic Caliber: Longines L688 Frequency: 28,800 semi oscillations per hour Functions: hours, minutes, small seconds, chronograph, and date Case diameter: 43 mm Case material: stainless steel Dial: black Glass: sapphire crystal Case back: transparent case back Band: black Longines leather band Clasp: Longines deployant clasp Crown: signed Longines crown Water resistance according to model specification: 3 bar / 30 meters Origin: Swiss Made ────────────────── Important details Black chronograph dial Three separate registers Large applied Arabic “12” Faceted steel hour markers Luminous central hour and minute hands Central chronograph seconds hand Date window between 4 and 5 o’clock Fine minute and second scale along the outer edge Longines logo and winged hourglass emblem “Automatic” inscription Two chronograph pushers Signed Longines crown 43 mm stainless steel case Transparent case back Automatic Longines chronograph caliber Black Longines leather band Signed Longines deployant clasp ────────────────── Year of manufacture Estimated year of manufacture: approx. 2012–2015 This Saint-Imier belongs to the modern generation of mechanical Longines watches in which the brand’s traditional, elegant design was combined with a relatively large case and an automatic chronograph. ────────────────── Case The round case is made of stainless steel and has a diameter of 43 mm. The case is largely high-gloss polished and features characteristic lugs that flow smoothly from the center to the band. The slim polished bezel allows a large portion of the front to be occupied by the dial, giving the watch a strong presence on the wrist. On the right side are the large knurled crown and two separate chronograph pushers. The case is in tidy used condition. There are light superficial signs of wear and small scratches consistent with regular use. The lines and shapes of the case are well preserved and there are no noticeable heavy damages. ────────────────── Dial The black dial provides a strong contrast with the silver-toned markers, light hands, and white scales. At 12 o’clock sits a large applied Arabic “12”. The other hours are mainly indicated by elongated faceted index markers. The central hour and minute hands are equipped with a light luminescent fill. The long central hand belongs to the chronograph function. Along the outer edge of the dial runs a detailed minute and second scale. Additional numbers at five-minute intervals reinforce the instrument-like character of the chronograph. Below 12 o’clock are the Longines name, the winged hourglass emblem, and the elegantly scripted “Automatic”. At the bottom of the dial is “SWISS MADE”. The dial is in nice condition with a clean, balanced appearance. ────────────────── Chronograph The watch features a mechanical chronograph function with three registers. Register at 3 o’clock: 30-minute chronograph counter. Register at 6 o’clock: 12-hour chronograph counter. Register at 9 o’clock: Small seconds for normal time display. The long central seconds hand is used to measure chronograph elapsed seconds. The chronograph is operated with the two rectangular pushers on the right side of the case. The placement of the three registers provides a balanced, sporty layout without losing the watch’s classic character. ────────────────── Date Between approximately 4 and 5 o’clock is the date window. The date is displayed with dark numerals on a light background and is set within a clear border, ensuring good readability against the black dial. ────────────────── Movement The watch is equipped with an automatic mechanical Longines chronograph movement from the L688 family. Caliber: Longines L688 Type: mechanical automatic Frequency: 28,800 semi oscillations per hour Functions: hours, minutes, small seconds, chronograph, and date Winding: automatic via rotor The movement is visible through the transparent case back. The rotor bears the Longines signature and the famous winged hourglass logo. Various parts of the movement are decoratively finished, making the back of the watch also visually appealing. ────────────────── Timegrapher measurement Rate deviation: -2 seconds per day Amplitude: 313° Beat error: 0.0 ms Lift angle: 52.0° Frequency: 28,800 semi oscillations per hour These values indicate the performance of the movement during the performed measurement. A timegrapher reading is a snapshot and does not constitute a warranty for future accuracy or the maintenance status of the movement. ────────────────── Case back The Saint-Imier features a transparent case back, allowing the automatic mechanical movement to be seen. Around the viewing window are various engravings, including: THE LONGINES SAINT-IMIER COLLECTION SWISS MADE WATER-RESISTANT The combination of the polished steel rim, the visible movement, and the signed rotor gives the back a refined and high-quality appearance. The steel parts of the back show light signs of wear. ────────────────── Crown and chronograph pushers The large knurled crown bears the Longines name and the winged hourglass emblem. Above and below the crown are the two polished chronograph pushers. The rounded rectangular shape of the pushers complements the flowing lines of the case. Crown and pushers are in neat used condition with light normal signs of wear. ────────────────── Strap The watch is fitted with a black Longines leather strap with a crocodile/alligator texture. The inside bears: LONGINES Winged hourglass emblem 22 GENUINE LEATHER The strap shows clear signs of wear. Around the lugs and holes there are wear marks, creasing, and wear visible. The inside also shows signs consistent with normal use. The strap color and classic texture match well with the black chronograph dial. ────────────────── Clasp The leather strap features a signed Longines deployant clasp. The polished clasp bears the Longines name and the winged hourglass emblem. The clasp shows light superficial signs of wear but remains nicely presentable. ────────────────── Wrist size The current strap configuration fits a wrist circumference of approximately 20 cm. With the different holes on the leather strap, the fit can be adjusted within a certain margin. ────────────────── Condition Case: good used condition with light superficial wear Bezel: good condition with light signs of wear Dial: good and well-kept Crystal: clear and neat Hour markers: good condition Hands: good condition Crown: signed Longines crown Chronograph pushers: good used condition Case back: light normal signs of wear Movement: automatic Longines chronograph movement Band: black Longines leather band with noticeable signs of use Clasp: signed Longines deployant clasp with light signs of use Wrist size: about 20 cm in current configuration ────────────────── Overall condition This Longines Saint-Imier Collection L2.784.4 is in clean used condition. The 43 mm stainless steel case shows light signs of wear consistent with normal use, while the black dial and crystal present a well-cared impression. The combination of the substantial 43 mm case, black dial, three chronograph sub-dials, large applied “12”, date display, and transparent case back gives this Saint-Imier a nice balance between classic Longines design and a sporty chronograph look. The black Longines leather band is clearly worn and shows wear around the attachment points. The signed Longines deployant clasp is still neat and completes the package. During the timegrapher measurement, a rate deviation of -2 seconds per day was recorded, with an amplitude of 313° and a beat error of 0.0 ms.
