ANCIENT TOOLS - FOLK ART Set of 2 superb wheel gauges/rollers or wheelwright calipers This tool was used to measure the circumference of wooden wheels in order to adjust the iron banding. The wheelwright rolled the disk around the rim to transfer the exact measurement onto the metal band to be shaped. - The first is forged iron. The metal disk is notched or marked along its edge. A long forged iron handle is fixed to the center by a rivet. The tool also has a suspension hole at the end of the handle. Length = 31 cm, disk diameter = 15 cm. - The second is wood and metal and was used in the 19th century Length = 43 cm, disk diameter = 18 cm.
