Lucas Huillet - Vase - Stoneware

The Bond vase n7, unique piece The Bond vase was born from the fusion of my ceramic work and the practice of bondage. The anthropomorphic forms of the distortions collide and come together. All of it is contained by a cordage crafted in Shibari. Shibari means 'tied, bound'; this word is used in Japan to describe the art of binding parcels, whereas in the West it refers to the art of bondage ('kinbaku' in Japanese). Although the practice evokes a certain violence through restricted movement, it is in fact an art performed with deep respect for the person or object being tied. The cordage must be applied with proper tension; the knots distribute, amplify or release the forces it exerts around the piece according to their orientation and tightness, and without ever hurting, damaging or breaking the thing being bound. Everything is a matter of balance. About Lucas Huillet: Trained at Camondo School in design and interior architecture. This academic path opened doors to collaborations with prestigious houses and institutions. In 2018, he created his studio as an exploration space where ceramics, interior architecture and object design intersect, drawing on expertise in working natural materials, allowing him to conceive unique pieces that are at once everyday objects and works in their own right. Today, the studio continues to combine traditional craft with contemporary innovation, aiming to create objects that carry meaning and authenticity. Lucas Huillet’s creations have been exhibited notably at Paris Design Week, Collectible in Brussels, and Dubai's Al Shindagha Museum.
