Luxurious Ballerina Ring with Ruby & Diamonds Set in Platinum, ca. 1965

The 1960s saw the emergence of a new form of the classic entourage ring, that is, the ring shape in which a large central stone is framed by a ring of diamonds. These new rings were called ballerina rings, because the surrounding diamonds were now no longer just diamonds, but fine baguettes and trapezoids, reminiscent of the folds of a fanned-out tutu seen from above: just as if one were looking out of the opera box at the spinning ballerinas. This ring is a particularly luxurious representative of this type. In the center, a transparent, raspberry-red ruby shines as the main stone. It is initially surrounded by a classic entourage of 14 fine white to white brilliant-cut diamonds. Below, set slightly lower, 36 fine white diamond trapezoids of very good clarity (vvsi-vsi) form a sparkling white tutu. The gemstones are held by restrained platinum bars set up and down in a kind of wave pattern, giving the diamond wreath a moving impression - as light and sweeping as tulle. The ring is in excellent condition. We have had an independent appraisal commissioned to confirm the quality of the materials. It is enclosed with the enchanting ring.
