Luxurious Entourage Ring with Emerald & Diamonds, ca. 1970

The name Esmeralda comes from Spanish and means emerald, or gemstone in general. The stone has been so highly prized there for centuries that Esmeralda has become a popular female name, representing grace and beauty. Thus, in his famous novel about the "Hunchback of Notre-Dame", Victor Hugo created a literary monument to the beautiful gypsy La Esmeralda. The vintage ring here, a jewel of the years around 1970, sets such a first-class emerald. The round star cut stone draws us in like light to its interior. Above all, its stunning, intense green colour delights. A slight so-called "jardin", fine crystal inclusions, is visible and show the naturalness of the stone. The emerald, with the colour of a tropical noon, is framed by a double entourage of twenty-four pure white diamonds of very good quality. Their white fire competes with the emerald, highlighting the intense green of the emerald. The settings and ring band are forged from high-carat white gold. The round, three-tiered ring head gives the emerald plenty of room to shine. At the same time, the latticed gallery also allows light to enter the stones from below, creating a first-rate play of colour and fire. We had the quality of the emerald examined by an independent laboratory in Idar-Oberstein. The certificate shown here, which confirms the materials and value of the ring, is included with the piece. The ring is in first class condition - a real jewel with class!
