M. Sué le Fils - Elémens D'anatomie

Beautiful illustrated edition of this treatise intended to provide artists with the indispensable anatomical knowledge for the correct representation of the human body - The work sits in the tradition of artistic anatomy treatises that seek to bring medical science and the fine arts closer together by showing that knowledge of the body's structure is necessary to master drawing, painting and sculpture - Its essential objective is to teach painters and sculptors to understand what lies beneath the visible forms of the body, so that they can accurately represent the proportions, movements, attitudes and anatomical reliefs of the human figure - Rather than addressing doctors exclusively, the author thus adapts anatomical teaching to the practical needs of artists and amateurs, prioritizing elements likely to be directly useful for observation and representation of the model - M.
