Mabank, Texas. $20 1929 Ty. 2. Fr. 1802-2. First NB. Charter #6422. PCGS Banknote Very Fine 20. A railroad town like many spread across rural Texas. Mabank owes its name to two early settlers by the name of G.W. Mason and Thomas Eubank whose combined names were applied to a tract of land that ultimately became the Mabank townsite in 1900. A few years later in 1902 a National Bank followed when the First National Bank (Charter# 6422) was organized. That institution managed to linger past 1935 and currently records a respectable yet relatively small population of surviving non-institutional notes with approximately 15 pieces recorded by the National Bank Note Census. There this evenly circulated T2 $20 issued during the 1930s is presently unrecorded and offers collectors an opportunity without precedent that will undoubtedly enthuse and inspire bidders to compete amongst themselves via an avaricious bidding process. Estimate: $1,000 - $1,500. Provenance: From the Jack Copeland Currency Collection, Part IV. Click here for certification details from PCGS Banknote.
