mahle 1:43 - Model race car (2) - 2x MAHLE Auto Union...

An exceptional opportunity to acquire not one, but two original MAHLE Auto Union Stromlinien race cars side by side. Both models are implemented in the very unusual magnesium die-cast construction for a toy and come from exactly the same mold. The models have been physically compared side by side: body shape, front, window openings, grille, underside and other cast details are in complete agreement. These extremely light race cars are attributed to MAHLE KG from Stuttgart-Bad Cannstatt, formerly Elektronmetall GmbH – EC. A preserved specimen with original box documentation explicitly names MAHLE KG as the manufacturer and describes the magnesium die-cast construction as a specialty of the company. The design is inspired by the spectacular streamlined Auto Union race cars from the Silver Arrows era. At the front are the four molded Auto Union rings and the characteristic recessed grille recognizable. What makes this duo special • Two models from exactly the same mold • Both extremely delicate window frames are present on each model • All eight cast metal wheels are present and turn • The same rare bodywork and grille variant • Original, unrestored appearance with honest patina of age • Together a beautiful comparison pair for the specialized collector Condition The best specimen has a clearly sharper preserved surface. The four Auto Union rings, grille, body lines and the profile of the wheels are clearly recognizable. A substantial portion of the old silver coloring finish remains. The second specimen shows more magnesium oxidation and surface wear, but is also notably complete. Here too, both thin window frames, all four wheels and the full body form are preserved. In both models the wheels still turn. The photos deliberately show the models from all sides and form an important part of the condition description. Specifications Manufacturer: MAHLE KG / formerly Elektronmetall GmbH – EC Model: Auto Union Stromlinien-Rennwagen / Curbstone Racer Material: magnesium die-cast construction Scale: approximately 1:43 Length: approximately 10.5–11 cm per model Dating: probably circa 1938–1950 Quantity: two models Packaging: without original boxes The exact production date and original distribution method are not conclusively documented. There are stories that these models were distributed as a gift for relatives or employees, but this is not presented here as established fact. One of the models originates from Baden-Württemberg and, according to the previous owner, was passed down within the family by the great-grandfather. A special duo in which German motorsport history, early materials technology and historic toys come together. In particular, the preservation of all four delicate window frames and the eight turning wheels makes this pair very attractive. The models are offered exclusively together.
