MANGBETU STOOL

Ca. 19th - 20th century AD. > A finely carved Mangbetu stool with a circular seat supported by a sculptural central column. The thick, rounded upper seat shows a smooth, worn surface. A narrow vertical opening pierces the supporting form, adding visual contrast and lightness to the otherwise compact structure. The column rests on a broad circular base, providing stability and reinforcing the balanced proportions of the piece. > > Size: 200mm x 200mm; Weight: 2.06kg > Provenance: Prince Collection, 1990s-2014; ex Pierre Dartevelle 08 April 2010. > >
