Märklin Z - 88414 - Electric locomotive (1) - BR 110.3 "Bügelfalte". - DB For the Deutsche Bundesbahn, the electric locomotives of series 110 – known as the "Bügelfalte" models (because of the distinctive fold in the nose reminiscent of a trouser crease) – marked the beginning of a modern, streamlined era. Their aerodynamic design conveyed the modernity of advanced locomotives that pulled high-speed trains. From 1963, all 221 high-speed locomotives of the E 10.3 series were fitted with this more aerodynamic body, featuring the characteristic "pants crease" styling on the cab sides. Although the original steel-blue livery for long-distance trains in some units was replaced after overhaul by cobalt blue, this did not detract from their extraordinarily elegant appearance.
