MATHIEU MATÉGOT (HUNGARIAN/FRENCH, 1910-2001) 'CAP D'AIL' DINING SUITE FOR SIX, DESIGNED 1953, MID 20TH CENTURY Comprising a dining table, two carvers and four dining chairs White colourway, slim tubular frame, perforated sheet metal Table; 71.5cm high, 102cm diameter Carvers; 82.5cm, 68.5cm wide, 59.5cm deep Chairs; 81.5cm high, 43cm wide, 64cm deep Literature: Patrick Favardin, Mathieu Matégot, Norma Editions, 2014, p.54 and p.269 The latter page reference shows examples of the 'Cap d'Ail' ensemble, in white lacquered metal, on the Hotel Le Pavé du Roy's terrace and in the greenhouse. The Hotel Le Pavé du Roy, in Port Marly in the Yvelines, near Paris, was renovated with bespoke interiors and furnishings designed by renowned French designer Mathieu Matégot in 1953.
