Maurizio Valch (1972) - (XL) MEATUS · Interrupted horizontal passages

Across a dense field of midnight blue, the artist sets four wavering silver lines in motion, as if routes, currents, or thresholds were crossing a private night. Small pale blocks appear like signals caught in the dark. The work asks how orientation survives when certainty recedes; its scraped, layered surface makes darkness feel not empty, but crowded with memory, pressure, and possible passage. I painted this from a need to stay with what cannot yet be named. Darkness is not only absence to me; it is a place where attention becomes sharper and fragile things begin to speak. I follow the lines as one follows an inner rhythm, without knowing where it will lead. The painting holds my wish to remain present inside uncertainty, and to find, within it, a quiet form of direction. ___ I am interested in how a form can remain isolated and still alter what surrounds it. I do not seek to make these marks describe a path or have their relationships resolve into a recognizable figure. I work with the possibility that a surface can retain traces of passage, boundaries, and presences that never fully reveal themselves. Sometimes, a minimal distance between two elements is enough to change the meaning of the entire territory. **Condition and Shipping** The artwork is in excellent condition, with no damage or restoration. It is shipped unframed and unstretched, carefully rolled inside a protective tube to ensure safe delivery. **About the Artist** Maurizio Valch is a visual artist, writer, and graphic designer. His work explores metaphysical territories, symbolic landscapes, and the relationship between geological space and human consciousness. Through dark fields, incised surfaces, monolithic forms, and structural divisions, Valch creates paintings that suggest the emergence of perception within the territory itself.
