Italian Post Office Most esteemed and rare 6-person coffee service, first quality, made by the renowned German porcelain factory Meissen, famous for its authenticity mark with blue crossed swords, features the celebrated decoration “Fiori Indiani” executed in the characteristic coral red coloration with exquisite 24 Kt gold detailing. It comprises 6 cups with their saucers, 1 creamer, 1 sugar bowl, and 1 coffee pot, purchased directly from the factory in Meissen, late 1800s, and NEVER used; all labels were present (see photos) which I removed to reveal the mark. There is also a circular sheet with the mark, which was used between a saucer and another, this is how it came out of the factory. It is like new, never used and always on display. Please view the photographs carefully as they are an integral part of the description. Any duties or additional charges will be borne by the buyer. Fast, insured shipping, proper packaging. This is one of the flagship historic motifs of the Meissen Manufactory, introduced for the first time around 1720 and inspired by Eastern porcelains that reached Europe via the East India Companies. Style and Decoration: the design reinterprets floral elements typical of Chinese and Japanese tradition (such as peonies, chrysanthemums, and plum blossoms) stylized with the mastery typical of 18th-century European painters. The flowers depicted evoke concepts of prosperity and purity. Forms and Borders: The saucers and the upper rims of the cups feature a classic and elegant wavy, lobed line (serrated profile), enriched by a filigreed solid gold border. The interwoven handles and bud-shaped knobs are typical of Saxon Baroque and Rococo.»
