Mid-Century wall lamp – teak/wood & opal glass – Scandinavian design – circa 1950–1960 This exceptionally elegant vintage wall lamp is a beautiful example of the organic mid-century design from the 1950s and 1960s. The lamp combines warm-toned wood with a soft white opal glass shade and features a striking, gracefully curved wooden arm. The long wooden arm rises from a formed wall plate and extends upward and forward, after which the lampshade seems to hang freely from the construction. Above the opal glass is a nicely turned, conical wooden finish. It is precisely this combination of wood, simple lines, and diffuse opal glass that is strongly related to Scandinavian lighting from this period. Comparable Danish and Swedish wall lamps from the sixties were made with teak, a curved wooden arm, and white opal glass.
