Moeck - Model 539 - - Flute - Germany

This Moeck Alto recorder comes from the inventory of a professional, deceased recorder player. Based on the AI information, it would be model 539. That, in addition to the use of solid ebony wood, also includes the application of imitation ivory rings, the so-called "ivorine" in. The fact that there are light hairline cracks in the rings is a typical characteristic of this particular aged artificial ivory (ivorine). This material has over the decades responded to fluctuations in temperature and the pressure of the wood working beneath. No cracks have been detected in the ebony wood itself. In the photos the window (labium) is clearly visible. The edge of the labium (the sharp wooden edge where the air stream is split) still looks very crisp and undamaged. The wood near the mouthpiece: At the top of the head (around the blowhole in the relevant photos you can see that the wood has become slightly lighter in color due to lip contact and playing moisture, and the oil layer there has been worn away a bit. This is completely normal wear for a instrument of this age. Furthermore, nothing has changed about this flute. All parts are original. So no repairs needed.
