Wonderful Set of Two Large Murano Glass Birds (Sommerso) – Attributed to Rubelli Vetri d’Arte A remarkable and impressive set of two large Murano glass birds, masterfully executed in the distinctive sommerso technique with rich shades of green and amber, beautifully combined with a gold finish. The sculptures have elegant, flowing forms and are provided with striking, tall and graceful tails that create a chic silhouette. By connoisseurs this style and quality is attributed to the renowned Rubelli Vetri d’Arte (the 1960s). A true eye-catcher for lovers of mid-century Italian design. The birds are identified as Rubelli Vetri d’Arte by specialists and connoisseurs in a Facebook group called Murano Glass Animals. They are involved in sharing decades of accumulated knowledge, identifying Murano pieces and catalogs of well-known and unknown pieces made in Murano Specifications: - Quantity: Set of 2 birds - Origin: Murano, Italy (attributed to Rubelli Vetri d’Arte - no certificate present) - Technique & Color: Sommerso glass, green and amber - Height: Approximately 30 cm (both around 30-31 cm) - Weight: Heavy, solid quality! Bird 1: 1,483 grams Bird 2: 1,621 grams Total weight: over 3 kg - Condition: Glass: In excellent vintage condition, completely free of cracks or chips. - Decor: The gold finish shows clear wear in several spots (see photos for an accurate image). This is in keeping with the age and does not diminish the splendid appearance of the glassware itself, but it is worth mentioning.
