Superb and rare complete ensemble from the Second Empire period (circa 1865–1870) Frame in hardened Napoleon III wood, sepia portrait by Numa Blanc and silk embroidered with inscription. The HARDENED WOOD is an original and eco-friendly method avant la lettre, invented by François Lepage based on sawdust and albumen (valorization of wood dust and the blood from slaughterhouses). Dimensions: 23 cm x 17 cm x 1.6 cm Weight: 447 grams The convex glass is original. The sepia portrait (albumen print) depicts a couple of the upper bourgeoisie, signed at the bottom left by the very famous Paris studio NUMA BLANC & CIE 29 boulevard des Italiens Paris. The mat, a unique piece in cream silk entirely hand-embroidered with the text (homage of the deepest affection and eternal attachment to my father).
