NAPOLEONIC CODE — Bulletin of Laws — Imperial Printing Office, 1807 NAPOLEONIC CODE. Bulletin of Laws, No. 154 bis (No. 2653 bis). Napoleonic Code, September 3, 1807. Paris, Imperial Printing Office, 1807. In-8, contemporary half-basane binding with small corners, speckled paper covers, smooth spine decorated with gilt fillets and scrolls, gilt title label “Code Napoléon.” Official edition of the Napoleonic Code published in the *Bulletin des lois* during the Empire. The text opens with the decree of September 3, 1807, issued by Napoleon, “Emperor of the French, King of Italy, and Protector of the Confederation of the Rhine.” The volume notably includes provisions relating to inheritance, division of estates, mortgages, expropriations, and statutes of limitations, and concludes with a table of contents bearing the notation “In Paris, from the Imperial Printing Office.” Copy in used condition: binding heavily rubbed, caps and corners damaged, spine worn, paper browned and stained, water stains, and some marginal defects.
