Natural freeform from Turritella agate / fossil snail...

This exceptional freeform sculpture shows an impressive density of fossil structures and reads like a frozen moment of prehistoric life. Across the entire surface, delicate, snail-shaped fossils as well as curved fragment lines run, creating a fascinating ornamental overall pattern. The fossils appear in light cream- and beige tones and stand out clearly from the finely textured, gray-green to sandy-colored bedrock. The natural distribution of the fossils is particularly appealing: some appear fully preserved, others appear as cut-open spirals or as elongated fragments, yielding a lively, almost graphic pattern. The meticulous polish makes this detailed fossil structure come to life superbly and gives the freeform a calm, yet very intriguing presence. Turritella-Achat, or fossil snail stone, is among the classic fossil jewelry- and collectible-stones. Pieces with such a high fossil density and clear drawing are comparatively rare and possess a special decorative as well as collectible appeal. As a display piece, this freeform exerts a strong presence. Depending on the viewing angle, new details, small spirals, lines and natural inclusions become visible, revealing the ancient formation history of the stone. In stone healing, fossil material is traditionally attributed with an grounding, stabilizing effect—a calm, nature-connected energy that harmonizes wonderfully with the archaic look of this piece. Stone: Turitella Achat Weight: 2211,33g Size: 140x120x65mm Treatment: None Origin: USA It is a fossil wood dating back 200 million years, all parts from a log or branches have been silicified, meaning that organic components were little by little replaced by silicon in the form of jasper, chalcedony and more rarely opal. Without the organic parts, all the living matter was replaced by stone: there are growth rings, cell separations, almost like worm cracks. Its features are those of the mineral that would have pseudo-transformed the wood: the silicon. And that’s what we call a "petrified wood" in the common language.
