Alla auktioner / Etnografica / Natural petrified wood slab from Arizona (USA) – 220...
This extraordinary piece of petrified wood impresses with its imposing, flat, broad form and the clearly preserved natural wood structures. The finely recognizable growth rings, grain patterns, and organic drawings testify to the original condition of the wood, which over millions of years was replaced by minerals and thus permanently petrified. The warm beige, cream, brown, and gold tones are interwoven by striking dark mineral inclusions and lend the specimen a fascinating, high-contrast appearance. Especially impressive is the combination of the natural, almost fossil-like form and the carefully polished surface, through which the fine structures and color gradations are exceptionally well showcased. Presented on a high-quality, handcrafted wooden stand, this petrified wood becomes a representative display piece and a special eye-catcher for any demanding mineral, fossil, or natural stone collection. Extraordinary Quartz Hand Polished Petrified Wood Weight: 15209,31g Size: 633x455x33mm Treatment: None Origin: USA - Arizona It is a fossil wood dating back 200 million years, all parts from a log or branches have been silicified, meaning that organic components were little by little replaced by silicon in the form of jasper, chalcedony and more rarely opal. Without the organic parts, all the living matter was replaced by stone : there are growth rings, cell separations, almost like worm cracks. Its features are those of the mineral that would have pseudo-transformed the wood : the silicon. And that’s what we call a "petrified wood" in the common language. The disclaimer about the healing properties as previously given : It is believed that certain gemstones and minerals have beneficial health and spiritual properties.
