Alla auktioner / Etnografica / Natural purple sapphire on matrix – extraordinary raw...
This impressive specimen showcases a violet sapphire in its original, unaltered form, embedded in a contrasting dark matrix. The intense coloration ranges from deep violet to vibrant purplish hues, which exhibit a remarkable brilliance, especially under lighting. The crystal zone of the sapphire appears raw yet vibrantly structured. Fine, fibrous, and zoned growth structures traverse the stone, giving it a dynamic, almost flowing optical appearance. Under direct illumination, a fascinating play of transparency, reflection, and inner glow emerges, effectively highlighting the material's depth. The surrounding matrix forms a strong visual contrast with its dark, sometimes glossy mineral components. Embedded light-colored rock and metallic-looking inclusions enhance the natural complexity and visually emphasize the sapphire. This combination makes the piece particularly expressive and underscores its geological uniqueness. Sapphire belongs to the corundum group and is among the world's most coveted gemstones. Colored varieties like this violet sapphire are comparatively rare, especially in this raw, aesthetically potent matrix form. In symbolic interpretation, sapphire stands for clarity, inner strength, and spiritual depth. The unusually violet coloration gives this piece a special, almost mystical aura, making it an extraordinary focal point for any collection. Weight: 250.65 ct Size: 43x40x19 mm Origin: Kenya Treatment: Untreated/ Unheated The lots were photographed under professional lights. Please note that the colours might differ depending on the monitor settings and light source. Our shipping costs are checked and acknowledged by Catawiki.
