NEC System 3125 Model 0100 - Computer

For sale is an exceptional NCR System 3125 Model 0100 from 1991 – a very early tablet/pen computer and an interesting piece of computer history. The device powers on and boots into the installed Microsoft Windows for Pen Computing Version 1.0. The corresponding startup image is visible in the photos. Pen input also works. The NCR 3125 was introduced as early as 1991 and was far ahead of its time: instead of a mouse and keyboard, operation was via a stylus directly on the display. Internally it uses an Intel 80386SL running at 20 MHz; the monochrome VGA LCD has a resolution of 640 × 480 pixels. A particularly nice feature of this exemplar is the original stylus/input pen that is included. Also present is the connection adapter/port replicator with, among others, VGA, serial, parallel, and keyboard interfaces. Condition/Function: The unit starts up and the display works. Windows for Pen Computing 1.0 loads and programs or the graphical interface are shown. The running device is visible in the photos. The enclosure is in a decent used condition for a device over 30 years old. There are signs of age and use, and these are documented in the photos. The internal backup battery is no longer functional due to its age. At startup, a corresponding message may appear or a reconfiguration may be necessary. The device is sold expressly as a historic vintage computer/collectible. Due to its age, no guarantee can be given for the continuous operation of all components. An unusual piece from the early history of tablet computers – long before modern tablet PCs and the iPad. The model is today also museum-documented; the Smithsonian National Museum of American History also has a NCR System 3125 Model 0100 in its collection. Included is what is shown in the pictures. No battery, with original power supply and pen."
