Artist biography: Nguyen Robert (born 1958) Born in 1958 in Ben Tre, an authentic village nestled in the heart of the Mekong Delta, Nguyen Robert is a Franco-Vietnamese artist whose work stands out for a unique fusion of Asian traditions and Western artistic influences. From a young age, he was fascinated by the rural architecture of his environment, the lines of traditional houses, the volumes of floating markets, and the shadows cast by water palms—elements that would form the basis of his visual language. Having always lived in his native region, Nguyen Robert over the decades developed a deeply contemporary, modern, and architecturally oriented style. His paintings explore structures, lines, urban rhythms, and geometric abstraction, while maintaining a poetic sensitivity inherent to Vietnamese culture. His Franco-Vietnamese heritage enriches his approach: he borrows from the West the rigor of modern compositions and the boldness of contrasts, while his Vietnamese soul injects softness, spirituality, and fluidity into his works.
