Artist Biography: Nguyen Robert (born 1958) Born in 1958 in Ben Tre, an authentic village nestled in the heart of the Mekong Delta, Nguyen Robert is a Franco-Vietnamese artist whose work stands out for a singular fusion between Asian traditions and Western artistic influences. From a very young age, he has been fascinated by the rural architecture of his surroundings, the lines of traditional houses, the volumes of floating markets, the shadows cast by water palms — all elements that would form the basis of his visual language. Having always been rooted in his native region, Nguyen Robert has developed over decades a deeply contemporary, modern, and distinctly architectural style. His paintings explore structures, lines, urban rhythms, and geometric abstraction, while preserving a poetic sensibility intrinsic to Vietnamese culture. His dual heritage, Franco-Vietnamese, enriches his approach: he borrows from the West the rigor of modern compositions and the boldness of contrasts, while his Vietnamese soul infuses softness, spirituality, and fluidity into his works. The result is a pictorial universe where modernity meets timelessness, where geometry dialogues with light, creating paintings of great visual impact.
