NICOLAS — LIST OF GREAT WINES 1973 — PAINTINGS BY RAYMOND GU - Lot 208

NICOLAS — LIST OF GREAT WINES 1973 — PAINTINGS BY RAYMOND GUERRIER [NICOLAS]. List of Great Wines 1973. Paintings by Guerrier. Charenton-le-Pont, Établissements Nicolas; Montrouge, Draeger Frères, 1973. Large in-4, paperback, 31 pages, fully illustrated color cover based on works by Raymond Guerrier (1920–2002). Typography, ornamentation, and layout by Alfred Latour. A luxurious advertising publication produced by Établissements Nicolas, illustrated with 8 color compositions by Raymond Guerrier, including the large cover composition, 3 double-page spreads, and 4 inserts. The paintings, characterized by broad areas of flat color and a very textured quality, accompany the various sections of the fine wines price list. This volume holds particular interest within the famous series of Nicolas catalogs: the 1973 vintage is the last of the large, illustrated luxury catalogs published by the company in this format. Beginning in 1974, Nicolas adopted simpler advertising publications. The photographed copy appears complete and in good overall condition: the cover shows some slight scuffing and signs of wear, the interior is fresh; the color illustrations are particularly well preserved.
