icole Lubbers is a Dutch visual artist from the eastern part of the country. Her work is characterized by an innovative and idiosyncratic approach to abstract art, in which painting, relief and sculptural elements come together. With rich colors, layered structures and diverse materials she creates powerful works around themes such as resilience, movement, strength and transformation. Lubbers was named Artist of the Year 2024 at the Belgrade Biennale, received the Institutional Award of the Municipality of Montecosaro and achieved second place at the World Art Awards as Most Innovative Artist 2024. In addition, she was listed among the 100 best female artists in the world and recognized as Master in Art. Internationally her work has been seen and planned for exhibitions in New York, Venice, Florence, Belgrade, Belgium, China and Montecosaro, in addition to exhibitions in Dutch galleries. A highlight is Beyond the Surface, a solo exhibition on Times Square in New York. In addition, Nicole presents together with artist Michael Lam the exhibition Harmony in Motion: Two Artists, One Vision. Here Lam's fluid Single Stroke Painting and Lubbers’ expressive, layered structures meet each other.
