Niemeijer's Koffie en Thee - Tin box - Mickey Mouse...

A beautiful and very rare coffee tin (storage tin / coffee can) from the 1930s. The tin was released at the time by the Groninger manufacturer Theodorus Niemeijer. On the bottom is the text "Niemeyer Koffie en Thee - Erkend de beste" printed. The tin features many animals depicted on it. Among the animals is Mickey Mouse as well. This makes the tin historically very interesting! Mickey Mouse was introduced in late 1928 and in the 1930s rapidly became a gigantic worldwide phenomenon. In the 1930s copyright rules were not as strict as today. Manufacturers back then often put popular cartoon characters on their packaging to appeal to children, without an official licensing deal with Disney behind it. This tin is an example of that. The designer added Mickey Mouse as an animal, at the time simply the world’s best-known mouse, to make the tin more attractive and modern for families. Dimensions: Height: 17 cm. Diameter: 11 cm. Weight: 206 grams. The coffee tin will be carefully packed and shipped insured.
