Alla auktioner / Mattor & Textilier / No Reserve - Antique Kurdish Rug, Western Persia, circa 1900 - 6 ft
Curated collection of antique, vintage and modern rugs No Reserve - Antique Kurdish Rug, Western Persia, circa 1900 Size: 6 ft x 2 ft 11 in (1.82 m x 0.88 m) Provenance: Property of a New York dealer A spirited antique Kurdish rug whose compact proportions, geometric drawing, and small irregularities preserve the personality of an individual village weaver. Kurdish rugs were produced across a diverse network of tribal and settled communities in western Persia. Their designs frequently combine geometric medallions, protective devices, stylized plants and small animal forms with a freedom that contrasts with the carefully prepared cartoons used by urban workshops. Its narrow, versatile dimensions make it suitable for an entrance, bedside area, passage or wall display, while its expressive character gives it particular appeal as a collectible tribal textile. Condition Request Condition Report Lot #438 is in fair condition. The pile is full, low, and even, with scattered areas of minor repairs. Both ends have been professionally re-woven for approximately one inch and are hand-secured. The sides are securely finished. There is no dryness in the foundation. This piece is clean and floor-ready. Please contact our rug experts at auction@nazmiyal.com or call us for any questions you may have at 212.545.8029. Please note that all lots are sold "AS IS.
