Steady ring by Samuel Behnam, executed in sterling silver and richly decorated with gold details and natural colored stones. The broad upper part has the same ornamental relief decor on both sides. On each side there is a round amethyst set between two smaller peridots. The stones are set in smooth gold settings, which nicely contrast with the oxidized relief of the silver. Also at the bottom of the ring there are five small gold bead-shaped accents. The ring is stamped on the inside with 925, 18K and BJC, the maker’s mark of Samuel Behnam. In addition, the ring was re-stamped in the Netherlands with a Dutch silver hallmark for 925 and a gold hallmark for 585. The original marking thus states 18 karat gold, while the later Dutch re-mark certifies the gold parts as 14 karat. For this reason both hallmarks are listed in the description. The ring has a heavy and solidly crafted model and feels sturdy. It shows signs of wear, visible use consistent with age. In particular, after magnification, wear/damage is visible on a few peridots.
