igeria Culture Yoruba Kingdom of Ijebu, Ogun State Ogboni secret society 20th century Bronze H.31cm Superb bronze head statue from the Kingdom of Ijebu, Ogun State, Nigeria. This object belongs to the Ogboni secret society. It is a powerful society that deals with justice and influence in local communities. It is a sensitive and living work. The expression on the face is stern and closed. It is entirely focused. It is proud and dignified, full of confidence, sure of its powers. The patina is beautiful and rich. It is the work of a seasoned artist. This object was made using the lost-wax casting technique (see Google), which makes the work unique. The metal is fine proof of the sculptor's skill. Sold as is, see photographs. Without laboratory testing, the attribution is given for guidance. The piece remains subject to authentication.
