Leaving Sakurajima Bay of Kagoshima — Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan This work draws inspiration from the crossing between Sakurajima and the Kagoshima Bay, dominated by one of Japan's most iconic volcanoes. From the rear of a ferry, passengers gaze at the volcano pulling away slowly as its plume of smoke dissolves into the mist. The wake of the boat naturally guides the eye toward the horizon and strengthens the sense of leaving a landscape that is both majestic and fragile. The black-and-white treatment enhances the depth of the scene, the contrasts of the sky, and the volcano's silent power, turning this departure into a moment of contemplation where the journey also becomes a memory. Series — Tokyo to Kagoshima, 1983 This series imagines the forgotten photographic notebook of a journey across Japan, from Tokyo to Kagoshima. Inspired by Japanese analogue photography and the contemplative cinema of the 1970s–1980s, the works explore an atmosphere made of rain, mist, silence, and solitude. Each composition is developed from a real photograph used as a working base. Artificial intelligence is used as a tool of artistic reinterpretation to rework the composition, textures, light and visual balance of the image, while preserving the authentic atmosphere of the places depicted. Printed in high definition on professional premium photo paper, the work reproduces deep blacks, subtle cinematic grain, and a minimalist aesthetic designed for contemporary wall presentation.
