Opulent band ring with sapphire & diamonds in gold, USA 1980s

All times have their fashions, and all fashions have their effects on jewellery. Jewelry from the 1980s is an often beautiful and always impressive testimony to a time of optimism and abundance: the oil crisis seemed to have been overcome, Wall Street was flourishing - people sipped cocktails and paid by credit card, anything seemed possible. At the same time, a new image of women emerged. Self-confident and tough, asserting herself in her job and against men, successful, with broad shoulder pads and high heels, she adorned herself with rings, necklaces and brooches in hitherto unfamiliar dimensions, with reflective surfaces made of yellow gold and richly set with colored gemstones. A lot of costume jewelry was created, as pieces of jewellery made from real materials would have been unaffordable for most women, so large and heavy would they have appeared. The band widens in the middle and presents a high sapphire cabochon of a beautiful blue color. It is accompanied on both sides by a white brilliant-cut diamond. According to the hallmark, the ring, which came to us from the Lower Rhine region, was made in the United States. It is in very good condition and a stylish piece of jewellery from the 1980s!
