ORA VIENNE (MCMV) - La Harpiste aux yeux clos

ORA VIENNE - Mixed media: ink pigment print, hand-applied brush-on varnish for durable protection of the work. A young woman in profile, facing left, eyelids lowered, plays a golden harp that occupies the left edge of the canvas. Her two hands are raised midway along the strings, forearms bare; the instrument’s neck is inlaid with cabochons, its soundboard covered with raised scrolls resting against her shoulder. Her auburn hair, braided into a long plait, falls to her hips. Her peacock-blue dress is sprinkled with spiral medallions and dark squares. Behind her, a continuous gold background; to the right, a vertical band of small colored rectangles runs from top to bottom. The painting does not show a concert but the moment just before it: the fingers are already on the strings and the sound is still restrained. The figure is alone, with no hall or audience, and the gold closes in behind her. Only this downward gaze on a gesture remains. Gold everywhere and the peacock blue of the dress hold the canvas, the flesh tones left in cold white and the auburn of the plait the only deviations. The gilding is worked in scales and cracks, lightened in places like an ancient wall. The spirals of the dress, the harp neck, and the surrounding scrolls are picked out in relief; these are the areas richest in material; the night blues and the wine reds return only in small squares, on the dress and in the right-hand band, which adds its turquoises. Mixed media: ink pigment print, hand-applied brush-on varnish for the durable protection of the work. Varnish applied by hand, for the depth of the gold and the durable protection of the work. Support: premium canvas stretched on a wooden frame, ready to hang. Format: 40 × 60 cm. Signed ORA VIENNE · Galerie Labo Joconde / Atelier Joconde · authenticity certificate provided. ORA VIENNE is one of the creations bringing together artists Le Yack, Neo Pablo and Popsan within Atelier Joconde, a family studio where three sensibilities coexist: neo-realism, pop, and libre figurative. The name says Vienna’s hour: that of the Vienna Secession and Gustav Klimt’s golden age, whose signature reprises the continuous gold background, the spirals, the checkered small rectangles laid in a band, and the detached female face on the metallic sheet. Under this name, the Studio paints only one figure at a time, alone in the gold, caught in a suspended gesture — the hand on the strings, the veil held at arm’s length — wearing a dress where the ornament ends up consuming the fabric. Each canvas is held together by an agreement of only two colors: gold everywhere, one unique color that responds to it, peacock blue or deep violet, and the flesh tones left in cold white. The gilding is never smooth: scales, cracks, bright shards, and wear treat it like an ancient wall, and the spirals are repeated in relief. Each work is a unique piece. Instagram @atelierjoconde.
