Orléans - Sculpture, Moissonneuse - 25 cm - Bronze, Marble, Spelter, Tin - 1900

Elegant Art Nouveau era sculpture (circa 1900) depicting a young woman or peasant, probably an allegory of the Harvest or a gleaner (a theme highly prized in regional French sculpture at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century). The piece is distinguished by remarkable work on the drapery of the garment and the movement of the hair. • Signature: Very neatly and legibly signed in relief cursive on the terrace: « Orléans », corresponding to the art foundry or the mark of a French regional workshop. • Material: An antique art alloy (regule of high quality) coated with a well-preserved original dark patina. • Base: The statue rests on its original black-veined marble base, solid and heavy, giving it excellent stability. State of conservation: • Statue: Overall good condition. Some natural, superficial patina wear in places, quite normal and consistent with its age, which attests to its authenticity (see macro photos of the signature). • Marble base: Overall good condition, no major through crack (please inspect the photos for small chips at the corners if present).
