OTTOMAN TEXTILE PANEL EMBROIDERED WITH METALLIC THREADS, 19TH–EARLY 20TH CENTURY Finely embroidered with silver and gilt metallic threads on a crimson and cream silk background, this Ottoman textile panel features a monumental inscription in Thuluth script at its center, reproducing Ayat al-Kursi (Quran, II:255). The inscription is framed by a rich crimson floral motif and a wide border adorned with palmettes and floral rosettes. INSCRIPTIONS: Signed inscription: “Mahmoud the Conqueror, son of ‘Abdul Hamid Khan, wrote this.” DIMENSIONS: 120 × 135 cm
