Papillon Tigre les Jardins - Valerie Vescovi

Papillon Tigre les Jardins by Valerie Vescovi Painting 24.0 x 20.0 :: My newest series are paintings of bugs I was inspired to paint bees when a couple of bees flew at me freaking me out a little then one landed on my shirt. I thought they must want me to paint them. While I painted bees I remembered how I loved bugs as a kid so I’ve been painting my favorites endangered or are just pretty. A large brightly colored moth seen towards the end of Summer. It’s a night flying moth of sand dunes woodlands meadows parks and gardens. The caterpillars are large black & covered in hairs. Commonly called “Wooly Bears”. They feed on stinging nettles and many garden plants. In many cultures they are associated with transformation and the afterlife. They are said to be messengers of those that have passed on and a symbol that they’ll never be forgotten.
