Imposing seventeenth-eighteenth-century liturgical antiphonary of the Bayeux diocese (Normandy), complete, printed in large format and provided with square musical notation on tetragramma. The work was published by order and under the authority of Paul d'Albert de Luynes, bishop of Bayeux, with the consent of the cathedral chapter, according to the provisions of the diocesan breviary. The volume collects antiphons, responses, hymns and other chants intended for the celebration of the Divine Office during the liturgical year. Of particular interest is the musical notation, printed with great clarity, and the imposing format, designed to allow collective reading during religious services. Collation Copy complete according to the collation carried out: Eyelet and title page. First part: pp. 1–487, ending with a typographic frieze. Second part: Commune cujuslibet officii, pp. j–ccxij (212 pages), also including the Office of the Dead. Last page CCXII with concluding typographic frieze. Overall 699 numbered pages, in addition to 2 unnumbered preliminary leaves. Conditions are extensively documented by photographs, which form an integral part of the description. Dimensions: 53 × 34 cm. Weight: about 10 kg. A grand eighteenth-century liturgical volume, of notable decorative presence, of interest to collectors of old books, the history of sacred music and French liturgy.
