Pietro Donato - Manoscritto Cardinale Florentini - 1427

It is an original manuscript in Latin, likely dating from the Renaissance or the early modern period (16th–17th century). It is a funeral oration (Oratio funebris). The title on the top of the first page reads: "D. [Decii] Floridini [...] Oratio in funere sacrae memoriae [...] Cardinalis..." The author delivers a commemorative laudation in honor of a high prelate (a cardinal), celebrating his virtues, erudition, piety, and human qualities. Mentioned are studies, humanism, moral strength, and the conduct of the illustrious deceased. Work of the humanistic fifteenth-century rhetoric of funeral oration for the funeral of Cardinal Francesco Zabarella. 1427. The last two photos placed in backlight are made to understand the watermark of the document. It could be the author Pietro Donato, illustrious Venetian humanist 1428.
