Pocket watch: extremely rare Art Deco dress watch with date, precision

Ca. 45 mm in diameter, ca. 60 g, 18-carat white gold, signed Geneva calibre with 19 jewels, regulated in 8 positions, comparable in quality to Patek Philippe dress watches of the period, No. 88481, date window below the ‘12’, gold hands, in working order. Eduard Koehn was born in Germany in 1839, the son of Karl Koehn, purveyor to the court of the Duchy of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach. He studied at the watchmaking school in Geneva from 1859. He then began working as a junior watchmaker at Patek Philippe in 1861 and was appointed director after 15 years. In 1891, Edouard Koehn acquired the firm H.R. Ekegren. The commitment to quality that he had acquired during his many years at Patek Philippe was later reflected in the products he designed and manufactured himself.
