Bracelets were a great love of Art Deco. "There was never a time when bracelets were as popular as they are today. It seems as if every girl and woman wears a bracelet, and many ladies of good taste wear two and even more in attractive combinations", reads an American catalogue from around 1925. Film stars such as Marlene Dietrich, Norma Shearer and Metropolis star Brigitte Helm also had themselves photographed wearing the coveted accessories on behalf of the film studios: Their heads resting on their arms, the elegant bracelets prominently displayed. Below is a studio photograph of Dietrich for the film "Blonde Venus" from 1932. This bracelet is a fine example of the taste of the period. Eight platinum and diamond stars are set in a row. When worn, they form an endless sequence. Beautiful diamonds in the old European cut set the centers of the stars and the links connecting them. Smaller 8/8 cut diamonds set the other parts and, alongside the hand-cut shadow gaps, create an ever-changing interplay of light and shadow. Typical of Art Deco jewellery is the monochrome all-white colour scheme, the joy of geometry and the rich decoration - everything that also characterizes this bracelet. We date it to around 1930 and an independent certificate has confirmed the quality of the materials.
