Precious Cocktail Ring with Aquamarine in White Gold, Gübelin c. 1965

Do you know the photographs by Slim Aarons? Ladies with wide-brimmed hats on spacious terraces, turquoise-blue pools and whitewashed columns - then again interiors in the "Hollywood Regency" style, elegant boudoirs and the powdery colors of the technicolour palette. The American photographer staged these scenes of the international jet set of the mid-century era like no other, and this ring also comes from this world. We discovered the large cocktail ring in Zurich. It is a work by Gübelin in Lucerne. The design focuses entirely on the large aquamarine weighing 33.60 ct. It displays the wonderful clarity and brilliance expected of an aquamarine, and the stone shines in a magnificent blue. Its multi-stepped step cut elicits eye-catching light reflections. The ring's play of light is enhanced by sparkling diamonds. However, they are only visible when viewed from the side, as aquamarine alone determines the appearance of this precious piece of jewelry when viewed from above. A row of fine diamonds, set parallel to the aquamarine, makes the ring shoulders sparkle. Ten further baguette-cut diamonds are set in layers on the struts that form the ring band. This creates a crystalline appearance with a bold design. The modernist setting is otherwise visually restrained and is so well made that it barely reflects into the interior of the stone. The ring is in excellent condition. It comes with an independent gemological certificate.
